The best prevention starts with a termite/timber pest inspection, we provide an above Australian Standards inspection. Nothing about this is rushed at our company, this can be one of the most important steps that can be taken to protect your investment. We go over the building from top to bottom and up to a 50-meter radius out from the perimeter of the building searching the property for evidence of timber pests and anything at all that could encourage termite attack to your property. We use only the best equipment available and have the skills and experience to get the most out of them.
From this inspection we are able to provide recommendations, advice and treatment options, you then receive the inspection results in writing via a very detailed report covering degree of risk of termite infestation, areas considered conducive to timber pests, if active termites are found and what species they are. This helps to determine the severity of possible attack and to help provide us with the best way to eradicate them.
We also note where they were located, old termite damage and workings, nests, evidence of previous treatments, wood decay, borers, environmental conditions conducive to timber pests and the list goes on, so be very wary when someone gives you a quote that seems too good to be true, it usually reflects the quality of work provided.
Knowing the level of risk to your property as a home owner is extremely important, gaining the knowledge we provide to you will most definitely lower your risk of termite attack.
From this information you may decide to have a termite barrier installed to give piece of mind knowing that once hit with termites a barrier is pretty much a must. Termites leave behind pheromones even after eradication, they effectively turn your home into a bait for other termite colonies in the area to be attracted to. By being informed through our expertise you stand to make the best possible decision for the protection of what could be one of the biggest investments you make.
There is a number of ways to eradicate termites depending on the species, the location or many other factors in many different situations. What we do here at Termite Interceptor is inspect your situation conducting an above Australian standards timber pest inspection to determine the extent of infestation, species of termite and the best course of action to eradicate them and importantly to prevent them from returning. Just eradicating termites is not always a long term solution as termites leave behind pheromones, we use the most advanced methods of eradication one of these being introducing the termites to chemicals like Fipronil, it acts like an undetected virus not killing them instantly but giving its self a chance to be spread through the colony to insure it is taken all the way back through the nest. Now the reason this is not always a long term solution no matter what the method of eradication is, it’s because of the termite’s pheromones, these are left behind wherever the termites had been.
These pheromones act as an attractant for other termite colonies in the area turning your house into a kind of bait and before long other termites can move in where the old termites were. This is why prevention is more important than most people realise.
We have many ways to protect your home before or after termite eradication. With our termite eradication we guarantee them gone. After our initial treatment we come back 3 to 4 weeks later as part of the initial treatment so no further cost to you, to make sure the treatment was successful if for any reason it was not, we retreat free of charge.
A big part of our areas of expertise is the installation of physical barrier systems to residential and commercial properties. It is compulsory these days to have some form of barrier system installed to a building during the construction phase or to renovations and extensions. We provide unparalleled quality in this area and provide the relevant termite treatment paperwork and certificates that are necessary for the building to pass the final inspection for council approval. It is important to understand that if the barrier system gets overlooked during this phase and it does happen, we have the solutions to solve these situations, but it can be a lot more costly to rectify.
Baiting systems are not our first choice in termite management, but recent advances have made it a worthy option. There is only one baiting system on the market today that we use and recommend, it is Sentricon’s Always Active baiting system, if you are interested in this option here is a video link showing how it works.
Boron treated wood is on the rise as a safe and long-lasting method to protect homes from wood destroying termites and organisms. Boron is used to treat solid timber, building products like studs, plywood, joists and rafters.
Boron treated timber has been used successfully for more than 50 years specifically to combat termites. Boron is used to prevent fungal decay and is deadly to termites, borers, carpenter ants and roaches – but safe for people, pets and the environment. Boron interferes with termites’ metabolic pathways when ingested through feeding or grooming, effectively killing them. Surviving termites avoid the protected wood products.
Boron creates an affordable, durable, safe treatment system to protect wood homes from termites and decay.
Boron in a wide range of applications contribute to energy-efficient building practices that are safe for people, pets and the planet.
Boron compounds offer some of the most effective and versatile wood preservative systems available today. They combine the properties of broad-spectrum efficacy and low acute mammalian toxicity. Oxides of boron, the active ingredients in boron systems, are ubiquitous within the environment, are essential plant micronutrients and are added regularly to agricultural land as fertilizers.
One of the most important functions boron serves is to keep the world green. All plants – from fields of cotton depend on trace amounts of boron to thrive. Although boron is essential for plants, and nutritionally important for humans, it also works to control insects and fungi that attack wood. Treating solid timber and engineered wood products with boron – from framing timber and power poles to furniture and wood-plastic composite decking – provides safe, affordable, long-lasting protection against wood-destroying pests.
We use the latest and best termite inspection tools and technology in the industry for your inspection. This alone enables us to discover what some other inspectors completely miss such as hidden moisture problems that cannot be reached by a standard moisture metre, early detection of termite infestations, termite leads and nests, missing insulation, plumbing leaks and much more. All these things left undiscovered can end up costing you thousands of dollars in repairs, and turn your new dream home into an expensive nightmare. Without the use of our ground breaking, and state of the art technology in your inspection along with our knowledge & experience, your only getting half the inspection you deserve & need!
We use thermal imaging as well as many other methods during every inspection to look for termites, water leaks, (as moisture problems in your home attract termites) as well as mould and fungus growth, borers, general wood decay and much more.
The use of thermal imaging not only enables us to detect hard to spot problems, it also allows us to see problems before they become serious issues. A thermal imaging inspection also helps us to diagnose not just the extent, but also the source of many of these problems. This can result in a large reduction in costs. Early detection of moisture inside a wall for instance, allows for an early, simple, cheap fix which would not be possible much later, extended exposure to moisture creates very high risk of termite attack and a pervasive problem with mould and fungal decay to timbers. It is far cheaper to replace the small section of roof or pipe where a leak originated than it is to replace the whole roof or affected area.
The use of thermal cameras in termite inspections are not part of an Australian standards inspection therefore a lot of companies don’t use one because they are an expensive piece of equipment, it is up to the discretion of the inspector to use or not to use, here at Termite Interceptor we believe the use of thermal imaging alongside all of the other specialised equipment at our disposal makes for inspections that are second to none.
We use only the best products available and have the expertise to use all forms of termite protection in our termite barriers, from the types of chemical, reticulation systems, drill and inject, trenching, many types of physical barrier systems and more giving us the power to have the safest and most effective treatment options to suit any situation. We have found over the years every job is different, there are many companies even large ones that stick to one product. This creates limitations in many situations that unknown to the client may not provide you with the highest level of protection for your situation.
Having many year’s experience in installing physical barriers in pre-construction, we are able to in some cases use these methods as part of post-construction barriers making it more cost effective for the customer in the long term as it can reduce or eliminate the need to do future chemical top ups. Physical barriers systems are also good for up to 50 years vs between 5 and 10 years or less depending on conditions for chemical systems.
